Evelyn Towles, 79, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 8:35 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2011, at her residence. Born in Mason, Illinois on March 30, 1932, she was the daughter of Fred Lee Hardsock and Grace Emogene (Evans) Hardsock. Evelyn was a graduate of Altamont High School – Class of 1950. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Yale, Illinois. Evelyn loved her family; enjoyed fishing, sewing, traveling, camping with family and friends, reading and flowers. Her legacy was working for the Lord.
On November 18, 1951, Evelyn married Clifford Lyle Towles, who survives. Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Gale Lee & Debbie Towles and Allan Leon & Kelly Towles; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue & Jim Spencer and Anita & Todd Atkins; nine grandchildren, Rachel & Brent Paschall, Jared & Molly Towles, Caleb & Sarah Towles, Jason & Jennifer Towles, Jamie Rhoads, J. D. & Nichole Spencer, Kayla Towles, Anthony Atkins and Dustin Atkins; sixteen great-grandchildren, Sarah, Joy, Bethany, John & Julia Paschall, Anna, Ari, Kathryn “Katie” & Myah Towles, Jacob, Lily & Grace Towles, Turner & Evelyn “Evi” Towels, Taylor Rhoads and Kylie Beck.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Martha Kay Towles.
L. A. Stauffer will officiate the funeral service. Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery.
